Michael Lichtenauer, a Grammy-award winning musician, enjoys the varied career of being a singer in Los Angeles, performing on movie soundtracks, TV, video games, and on the concert stage. His versatility has led to a career that has involved performing and recording with a great variety of artists, including The Police, Fall Out Boy, Busta Rhymes, Frederica Von Stada and Dawn Upshaw, as well as with contemporary composers Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Meredith Monk, John Tavener, and Danny Elfman. He can be seen performing at The Walt Disney Concert Hall as a soloist and member of The Los Angeles Master Chorale. Each season includes concerts with The LA Phil, at Disney Concert Hall and The Hollywood Bowl. Michael also sings in various small ensembles, performing early music as well as works by today's masters.
Michael spent seven years in San Francisco as a member of the vocal ensemble Chanticleer. He can be heard on eleven of their recordings, including the two Grammy Award-winning albums, Colors of Love and Sir John Tavener's Lamentations and Praises. His travels with Chanticleer included most of the fifty United States as well as twenty foreign countries.
Michael has also been heard on National Public Radio and Public Radio International programs such as St. Paul Sunday, Weekend Edition Sunday, and Performance Today as well as radio broadcasts in Canada, Germany, Australia, Mexico, Estonia, Latvia, Taiwan, and Japan. In 2002, Michael and his Chanticleer colleagues appeared on national public television in “Christmas with Chanticleer”, filmed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
