Michael Lichtenauer, a Grammy-award winning musician, began his professional singing career at the age of eleven. While attending the University of Kansas on a vocal scholarship, Michael studied voice and Journalism, performing at various jazz festivals in the US and Europe.

In 1996, he moved to San Francisco to become a member of the vocal ensemble Chanticleer. He can be heard on eleven of their recordings, including the two Grammy Award-winning albums, Colors of Love and Sir John Tavener's Lamentations and Praises. His travels with Chanticleer included most of the fifty United States as well as twenty foreign countries.

Michael has also been heard on National Public Radio and Public Radio International programs such as St. Paul Sunday, Weekend Edition Sunday, and Performance Today as well as radio broadcasts in Canada, Germany, Australia, Mexico, Estonia, Latvia, Taiwan, and Japan. In 2002, Michael and his Chanticleer colleagues appeared on national public television in “Christmas with Chanticleer”, filmed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Michael currently resides in Los Angeles where he works as an ensemble singer, session recording artist, and soloist. He can be heard as a member of The Los Angeles Master Chorale at Walt Disney Concert Hall and on various movie and game soundtracks including "The Watchmen" and "The Day The Earth Stood Still".

Michael is a member of SAG, AFTRA, and AGMA.
